Opera Touch 1.0 is available now as a free download for Android 5.0 or later. Once open, users can switch between web and tab searches by pressing the Tab key. Press Alt + Space to quickly search the web, or Ctrl + Space to launch a search of open tabs. The update also introduces an additional feature: Instant Search. Opera Touch also comes with the same ad-blocking and cryptocurrency-mining protections found in its desktop siblings - these need to be enabled from the app’s Settings.Īs stated, the desktop browser has been updated to support Flow. It supports multiple tabbed browsing - users can switch between tabs by tapping and holding with one finger, then selecting the tab icon from the list shown. In addition to acting as a conduit between PC and mobile, Opera Touch has been designed for one-handed use and is primarily optimized for performing fast web searches. Users can also leave notes for themselves, plus click the Settings button to erase all content from the Flow, disconnect individual devices or reset the connection and start from scratch. The Flow screen itself displays content in chronological order with a handy preview - click a link to visit it in a separate tab. Once linked, users can send pages to Flow via the arrow button found in the top right corner of the Opera Touch app or on the right of the Address bar in the Opera desktop browser. Users link mobile and computer through a QR code - go to Speed Dial in the desktop browser and click the new arrow button on the left to follow the prompts to link the two together via end-to-end encryption. Opera Touch also employs an ad-blocker, a QR and barcode scanner, speed dial and crypto-jacking protection among the regular features you see on a web browser. The main feature is Flow, which works in tandem with the recently updated Opera. In order to use this feature, users would also need to install the latest version of Opera browser on their Mac, Windows or Linus machine. Opera claims that users would have to work about their privacy since all of these connections are end-to-end encrypted. Upon scanning the given QR code on the desktop and accessing the same FAB on a smartphone, users can quickly share links and continue their browsing experience through multiple platforms. Be it you’re on a bus or metro and you only have a hand to hold your phone with, Opera Touch will come in handy in such situations and more.Īnother major addition to the browser is Opera Flow which allows users to quickly send and receive content between their smartphones and desktops. The FAB will allow users to browse the web with a single hand as it opens a circular menu with other options like going back to the previous page, switching between tabs and popping up the phone’s keyboard, all of which is taken care of without you needing to use both your hands. There’s a new Fast Action Button (FAB) which can always be accessed from the bottom part of the screen. Upon downloading the Opera Touch from the Google Play and launching the same, you’ll be greeted with an open keyboard and the search bar already toggled into. The once-popular web browsing app which made web browsing easy and quick with its Opera Mini application is now bringing a brand new mobile browser that’s designed with a sole purpose of making it easy to scroll through the Internet with one hand easily. In a race to being the best mobile browser, we might not see Opera jumping on to the list anytime soon but Opera Touch might just be the way to start the proceedings with.
